Eyjafjallajökull Summit Hike

At the farm Seljavellir, by Seljavallalaug, we start the hike up to the snowline/glacier part. Your guide will brief you thoroughly and hands out the gear for the glacier part. The foothills are steep, and your guide will make sure that you go at a slow and even pace. Upon reaching the glacier at around 950m (about 3116 ft) we rope up. The vertical ascent is around 1.600 meters, and the climbing can take from 9 – 12 hours. You will need to be both physically and psychologically prepared for such a long day and make sure you have the right clothing and good boots. Please read the suggested equipment list carefully.

Once you reach the highest point you will have a remarkable view over the crater which erupted in 2010 as well as the areas to the north and the south.
